The chairman of Farmington’s Board of Selectman was arrested on the charge of domestic violence assault Monday, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Ryan Morgan, 40, was arrested on the charge of class D domestic violence assault following a Department of Health and Human Services referral, Nichols said.

Nichols said the alleged assault is believed to have happened Nov. 6 and involved a person under the age of 14. Detective Ken Charles interviewed Morgan at the sheriff’s department and arrested him Monday evening, the sheriff said.

Nichols said while the alleged assault reportedly occurred in Farmington, the incident was investigated by the sheriff’s department because the Farmington police are supervised by the selectmen.

Morgan, along with serving as a selectman, has worked on the town’s the budget committee and police space committee according to his biography on the town webpage.

The biography states he lives in Farmington with his wife and two children.
