An Irving Oil tanker truck overturned Wednesday night, forcing authorities to shut down Route 25 in the Oxford County town of Porter.

Kezar Falls Fire Chief Kenneth Burbank said more than 2,500 gallons of gasoline spilled in the accident, which occurred about 50 feet from the Ossipee River.

Burbank said the Maine Department of Environmental Protection has a team on site that will oversee cleanup of the gasoline spill. The cleanup will likely last through the night.

No one was injured in the accident, which remains under investigation. Route 25 was closed shortly after 6:30 p.m.

Burbank said the road will reopen once the truck has been removed from the site.
