THE TOPSHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT quickly knocked down a fire reported in the back of a building at Auburn Concrete on Meadow Road Extension at 5:35 p.m. Monday, saving the structure before any major damage was done. The fire was discovered by an employee who luckily hadn't left yet and saw smoke atop the taller buildings and found the fire. When crews arrived, flames were shooting from the top of adjoined multi-level structures and firefighters were able to extinguish much of the fire from inside the building. Firefighters conducted an overhaul, making sure the fire, which one of the owners on scene said may have been caused by an electrical issue, hadn't extended into other parts of the building. The department turned the building over the the owners and cleared the scene at 7:11 p.m.
