The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred Thursday night at a shopping center in Cornish.

Chief Deputy William King Jr. said a white man entered the Subway store in the Cornish Shopping Center on Route 25 around 8 p.m. showed a black handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk emptied the shop’s cash register and the robber ran off.

Deputies and Maine State Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect, who is described as being in his mid-20s.
