A 34-year-old man was arrested Wednesday by Saco police on charges of gross sexual assault, impersonating a public servant, engaging a prostitute and theft by extortion.

Jason Foster, who lists addresses in Westbrook and Buxton, had been indicted this week by a Cumberland County grand jury.

The warrant for his arrest originated with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, which referred questions about the case to the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office. A telephone call and email to the prosecutor’s office were not responded to on Thursday.

Foster was indicted on six counts of gross sexual assault, nine counts of impersonating a public servant, one count of theft by extortion and two counts of engaging a prostitute for conduct that allegedly occurred between October 2013 and October of this year, according to the indictment.

Foster is being held on $20,000 bail in the Cumberland County Jail in Portland pending an initial court appearance.
