With the hard fought election now over and the Holiday Season in front of us, I wanted to take a quick moment to thank all the citizens of District 51 for believing in me. My thanks extends to my opponent and her family as well, who clearly made a lot of sacrifices over these past few months. Passionate political differences should never become personal, because the duties in front of us are far too important.
I also want to thank my two adorable little ‘punkins’ (children), Maddison and Jordan. Thank you for standing with me through the early mornings, the late nights, the many meetings, parades and more. While all of our children are maturing today, we need to work together to ensure they have better opportunities tomorrow.
God bless the great people of District 51 and all of the newly-elected officials who have been entrusted with the most solemn responsibility of all, guarding our individual liberty.
Byron D. Watson, House
District 51 candidate
Brunswick

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
