Re: the letter from Warren C. Graumann (“Voters should remember wildlife needs management,” Nov. 18):

It is an insult to all the “Yes on 1” voters to say they’ve been “conditioned by what I call the ‘Disney Factor.’ ”

If Mr. Graumann calls snaring, hounding and feeding bears with tons and tons of junk food a necessary means of wildlife management, then he must be the one who has been conditioned – by being incapable of either dealing with the facts about bear management or understanding ethical hunting and general compassion.

I am happy that nearly half of the Maine voters have understood this concept and voted for compassion and fairness, based on the facts. To connect shopping for meat with the bear referendum is simply idiotic.

Wildlife does not need “conditioned” management for profit and pleasure killing!
