Police identify man killed in hit-and-run accident

Boston police have identified a man struck and killed by a vehicle in the Mattapan neighborhood this week and are asking for the public’s help as they search for the vehicle that was involved and its driver.

Police said 51-year-old Paul Fonseca, a city resident, was on foot when he was hit by a black Lincoln Town Car shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday near American Legion Highway and Blue Hill Avenue.

Investigators say the vehicle was last seen leaving the area on Blue Hill Avenue.

As ski season takes off, new regulations apply

Ski season is getting started in Connecticut.

A bill approved by lawmakers and signed by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy earlier this year seeks to strengthen enforcement of existing safety regulations at ski areas in the state.

The measure came in response to an incident at the Woodbury Ski Area last year in which a teenager fell from a chairlift.

The regulations apply to both ski operators and skiers and cover a wide range of areas including trail markings, ski lifts and equipment.
