New Hires, Promotions and Appointments
Dr. Abby Markham has joined the Falmouth pediatrics office of Maine Medical Partners Primary Care, an affiliate of Maine Medical Center. Markham completed her residency at MMC, and brings a special interest in patients with congenital heart diseases. She received her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine.
Norton Insurance Agency has hired Cathy Smith as a personal lines customer service representative. Smith previous worked as a personal lines underwriter with NEEE Ltd., and also has experience with Cross Insurance and Tilton Insurance.
Debra Taylor has been named president and chief executive officer of Sweetser, a behavioral health care organization serving 75 Maine communities. She has served with the organization for 14 years, most recently as vice president of finance. She replaces Carl Pendleton, who is retiring. Ginny Gentile has joined Sweetser to fill Taylor’s former position. Gentile was previously chief financial officer of The Opportunity Alliance.
Kimberly Twitchell, of Cumberland, has joined NBT Bank as senior vice president and regional commercial banking manager, based at the bank’s regional headquarters in Portland. Twitchell has 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently as a senior lender and commercial relationship manager for TD Bank.
Maine State Music Theatre has hired Katie White as group sales and outreach manager. White is a graduate of West Virginia University, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and advertising.
Portland law firm Drummond Woodsum has named attorney Agnieszka A. Pinette to its public finance group. Pinette earned her law degree at the University of Maine, where she served as editor-in-chief of the Maine Law Review. Before joining the firm, she clerked for Judge Ellen A. Gorman of the state Supreme Judicial Court.
The Medical Staff of Maine Medical Center has elected new leadership to a two-year term. Officers elected are: president, Dr. Cindy Boyack; president-elect, Dr. Lisa Almeder; treasurer-secretary, Dr. Steven Hess; and immediate past president, Dr. James Zeitlin.
Grants
Portland-based Coffee By Design has awarded a total of $6,300 to five Maine arts organizations through its Rebel Blend Fund Grant. Presented annually, the fund has been awarding arts grants in Maine for 17 years. This year’s grants will support BGB African Music & Arts Inc., the Maine Inside Out Project, Portland Symphony Orchestra’s Portland Lullaby Project, CSArt Maine and the “Our Stories” workshop at the Maine College of Art.
The Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development, a Portland-based business incubator, has received a $3,500 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to expand the center’s Top Gun Program in the mid-coast area. The program provides mentoring and support for competitively selected entrepreneurs.
On the Move
Health Affiliates Maine, a growing mental health and substance abuse agency based in Auburn, has moved its Portland clinical office from St. John Street to 62 Elm St. The new location is designed to be more accessible and comfortable for clients, according to the agency, which specializes in medication management, outpatient therapy and case management services.
