BIDDEFORD — For more than a decade, Southern Maine Health Care has made it a tradition to show a group of local seniors that the caregivers at the hospital are thankful for all that the seniors have done for the community. On Nov. 13, SMHC employees and volunteers from HomeHealth Visiting Nurses served members of the Senior Center at Lower Village in Kennebunk a Thanksgiving meal, piping hot with all the fixings, prepared by Chef Mike Sabo and the culinary staff at SMHC’s Café in Biddeford.

“Last Thursday was one of my favorite days of the year at the Senior Center at Lower Village ”“ the day when our friends from SMHC arrive with lots of food and beverage to celebrate an early Thanksgiving dinner with our members,” wrote Executive Director Susan Pettit in a thank you note following the event. “Every year I think it cannot get any better than the previous one, but somehow it always does. At the luncheon I announced that this was the 11th year that the hospital has shared this meal and the wonderful volunteers with our members ”“ to the tune of thunderous cheers and applause I might add. Thank you for making this day so special.”
