BIDDEFORD — Because of telephone service interruptions, some FairPoint Communications customers may get some money back.

According to the Maine Office of the Public Advocate, customers who have lost telephone service may be due a bill credit for the time they were without service.

To receive a credit, customers must contact FairPoint’s business office at 866-984-2001 and provide the date the outage began and when it was restored.

Those who are still without service should report this to FairPoint as soon as possible by calling 866-984-1611. This will notify the company of the problem and “start the clock” for bill credit purposes.

Those who have already notified the company and have had a prolonged outage should contact the Public Utilities Commission’s Consumer Assistance Hotline at 800-452-4699 and the Office of the Public Advocate at 287-2445.
