The attack by Japan on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on Dec. 7, 1941, was remembered at the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day ceremony Sunday at Fort Allen Park on the Eastern Promenade.

The AMVETS Department of Maine has sponsored the ceremony for 47 years.

The event featured a color guard, the laying of the wreath at the base of the mast of the USS Portland and statements from Maine’s congressional delegation.
