AUGUSTA (AP) — A looming storm is expected to bring a mix of snow, sleet, rain and strong winds to Maine.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Gray say that most of Maine will see snow beginning mid-to-late-morning on Tuesday, but that it will quickly change over to rain along the coast.

They say that the mountains could see as much as a foot of snow. Farther south and east will experience mostly sleet and rain.

The wind is also expected to be strong, with gusts reaching up to 45 miles per hour in some places.

Forecasters say that the worst of the storm will be Tuesday afternoon and evening and into Wednesday morning.
