BANGOR — A man convicted of wire fraud for defrauding a Maine town is asking that his sentence run at the same time as his 10-to-20-year sentence for manslaughter in New Hampshire.
Craig Sanborn of Maidstone, Vermont, is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court in Bangor on Jan. 21, 2015. He was convicted in May of submitting $300,000 worth of false invoices to Brownville for materials and services he never bought. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
The 65-year-old Sanborn was convicted last year in connection with an explosion at a Colebrook, New Hampshire, gunpowder plant that killed two workers.
The Caledonian Record reports Sanborn’s lawyer asks for a 2-year sentence, saying Sanborn has a history of community service and a low likelihood of committing another crime.
