GRAY — Maria Valente scored 11 points, Alanna Camerl added 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Gray-New Gloucester got by Fryeburg Academy, 52-49, in a Western Class B girls’ basketball game on Wednesday night.

Zoe Adams added nine points for the Patriots (2-0), who led 27-20 at halftime.

Mackenzie Buzzell led the Raiders (0-2) with 12 points. Nicole Bennett added 11.

THORNTON ACADEMY 42, DEERING 22: Victoria Lux scored 11 points to lead the Trojans (2-0) past the Rams (1-1) at Portland.

Katasia Titherington paced Deering with eight points. Lodia Ismail added seven.

YORK 55, WELLS 33: Shannon Todd scored 11 points, and the Wildcats (2-0) broke it open with a 17-4 rally in third quarter against the visiting Warriors (0-2).

Todd had nine points during the rally that gave York a 44-22 lead.

Mia Briggs and Emma Thomson each had nine points for York. Paige McElwain had five assists and four steals with her four points.

Natalie Thurber had eight points for Wells. Hannah Moody added seven.

WAYNFLETE 42, SACOPEE VALLEY 24: Juliana Harwood and Dana Pierce each sank a 3-pointer, and Helen Gray-Bauer followed with two layups to spark a 21-4 run that sent the Flyers (2-0) past the Hawks (1-1) at Portland.

Waynflete finished the quarter with a 36-16 lead.

Harwood’s 11 points led the Flyers. Hannah Manchester’s eight led Sacopee.

POLAND 38, KENNEBUNK 24: Morgan Brousseau scored seven third-quarter points as Poland used defensive pressure to outscore the Rams 17-6 and open a 34-17 lead at Kennebunk.

Michaella Arsenault led the Knights (2-0) with 14 points. Gabby Fogg scored 14 for Kennebunk (0-2).

PORTLAND 67, NOBLE 27: Portland High’s (2-0) Taylor Sargent scored seven points as the Bulldogs jumped to a 23-4 lead in the first quarter against Noble (0-2) at North Berwick.

Portland’s Katherine Johnson scored 19 points. The Bulldogs also got 13 points apiece from Elizabeth Donato and Sargent and 11 from Sydney Frederick.

MARSHWOOD 54, WINDHAM 51: Megan McLean scored 16 points, Hailey Tarr had 10, and Marshwood (1-1) beat the Eagles (0-2) in Windham.

The Eagles were led by Sadie Nelson’s 26 points and Mya Mannette’s 17.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 62, HEBRON ACADEMY 10: Allison Verrill scored 16 points, and Kim Emerson had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Breakers (2-0) past the Lumberjacks (0-2) at Freeport.

Stephie Kayumba had 10 points for Pine Tree.

GREELY 62, FREEPORT 26: Ashley Storey scored 23 points to lead Greely (1-1) past the Falcons (0-2) in Freeport.

Haley Felkel added 11 for the Rangers.

OXFORD HILLS 39, MT. ARARAT 33: Anna Winslow scored 16 points to lead the Vikings (1-1) past the Eagles (0-2) at Topsham.

Nikki Bradstreet and Allison Melcher each scored 10 for Mt. Ararat.

CHEVERUS 66, BONNY EAGLE 48: Emme Poulin and Diedre Sanborn each scored five points in the first quarter as the Stags (2-0) opened with an 18-5 run against Bonny Eagle (0-2) in Portland.

Laura Holman scored 18 points for Cheverus. Poulin finished with 10.

HOCKEY

FALMOUTH 3, CHEVERUS 1: Camden Carrier scored two minutes into the game and assisted on Alta Farrell’s second-period goal, leading the Yachtsmen (4-1) past Cheverus (2-3) in Falmouth.

Abi Lebel also scored for Falmouth, and Devon Sarazin had two assists.

Jill Hannigan scored for Cheverus.

EL/LEAVITT/POLAND 5, CAPE/WAYNFLETE/SOUTH PORTLAND 3: Haley Frohlich and Danica Nadeau each scored a pair of goals to lead Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland (6-0) over Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete/South Portland (2-3) at Portland Ice Arena.

Madison Derosa also scored for Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland.

Hannah Bosworth and Julia Ginder each had a goal and an assist, and Kate Ginder also scored for Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete.
