The National Weather Service says there’s a chance for flooding in northern Maine because of an ice jam.

The service has issued a flood advisory and says an ice jam is in place on the Aroostook River at Washburn and downstream from the mouth of the Little Madawaska River between Caribou and Fort Fairfield. According to the weather service, river levels are stable, but they could rise quickly as the ice moves.

The advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Saturday.
