AUGUSTA — Maine Gov. Paul LePage says his focus during his final four-year term will be welfare reform, spending reform, lowering energy costs and reducing the size of government.
LePage said in his weekly radio address that “Mainers have spoken and we have listened.”
He said he’ll continue to press for “common-sense welfare reforms” and tax reforms like a lower income tax that could attract businesses while putting money back in residents’ pockets. He said lower energy costs is a necessity to attracting and retaining businesses.
He also said he’ll be looking at further cuts to state government, saying a government that is “too big and too expensive” takes money away from Mainers and discourages job creation.
