At last the U.S. government has come out of its deep winter sleep with regard to opening relations with Cuba. It has been a long time coming and is welcome.
I have always found it curious and hypocritical that we were able to overlook the massive human rights abuses from “our best friend China” and yet point to Cuba and accuse it of the same violations.
Obviously, Cuba has some human rights issues also, but I find Cuba to be a lot less threatening to our national security than China. Hopefully, this new relationship will be beneficial to both of our countries.
