OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Abby Dubois and Brianna Plante spearheaded the offense as Old Orchard Beach rolled to a 72-45 victory over Waynflete on Saturday afternoon in a battle of unbeaten Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball teams.

Dubois filled up the stat sheet with 20 points, nine assists, six rebounds and five steals.

Plante, a freshman, was efficient from 3-point range, knocking down four out of five attempts en route to 16 points. She also had seven steals.

The Seagulls (4-0) took control early, building a 19-7 lead after one quarter.

“In terms of offense, Abby and Brianna sparked us in that first half for sure, but we got good minutes out of everybody. Nobody had a bad game,” said Old Orchard Beach Coach Dean Plante.

Waynflete guard Helen Gray-Bauer was in foul trouble all afternoon and fouled out in the third quarter.

“They had a little foul trouble with Helen. She got two in the first half – her and my point guard, (Mackenzie) Rague. So they sat a lot in the first half,” said Plante.

Lydia Giguere led Waynflete (4-1) with 11 points. Julianna Harwood and Gray-Bauer scored nine and eight, respectively.

Lauralee Small contributed 11 points and Payton Fritz chipped in with 10 for the Seagulls.
