A Fryeburg man wanted on several outstanding arrest warrants tried to elude police by jumping out of a second-floor window then hiding under his house before he was apprehended Saturday.

Fryeburg Police said James Parmenter, 43, was stopped by Fryeburg Police at about 2 a.m. as he was pulling into his driveway on Harbor Road when he fled into his home and later jumped out a second-story window.

Parmenter was facing outstanding arrest warrants for theft, possession of an illegal drug, attaching false registration plates, operating under suspension and negotiating a worthless instrument.

Officers called in more police from the Fryeburg Police Department, Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, Bridgton Police Department and State Police. Parmenter was found in a crawl space under his home and was taken to Bridgton Hospital with minor injuries. He was also charged with violating conditions of release and operating after habitual offender suspension.

He is being held without bail at the Oxford County Jail.
