PHOENIX – Young immigrants protected from deportation under an Obama administration policy have started to apply for Arizona driver’s licenses now that a judge has barred the state from denying them driving privileges.
Monday marked the first day that about 20,000 immigrants in the country illegally who have received protection from deportation could apply for Arizona licenses.

Immigrants lined up outside Motor Vehicle Division offices.
In Tucson, Jose Alberto Aguilar waited behind about 50 people before the office opened.
The 23-year-old civil engineer is a Mexico City native and was brought to the U.S. by his parents as a child.
He is looking forward to buying a car and getting himself to work.
