ORLAND – Two Orland residents are facing heroin trafficking charges after police searched the home they shared.

The arrests Sunday were the result of a monthlong investigation that included an undercover drug buy.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officers with the assistance of the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department arrested 36-year-old Gorham Clifton after seizing 72 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $10,000 from his home. Agents also charged Naomi Thomas, who also lives in the home.

Clifton is jailed on $5,000 bail and it’s unclear if the suspects have lawyers.

Drug agents say charges may be upgraded because of the amount of heroin seized.
