BANGOR — A man found to be in possession of child pornography after he tried to take a picture of an 11-year-old boy using the bathroom in a Walmart has been sentenced to three years in jail.
Marc Alberi of Newport, already on Maine’s sex offender registry for prior convictions, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to charges including possession of sexually explicit materials.
Prosecutors say Alberi, 46, used his cellphone camera to take pictures of the boy at a urinal in the store in September.
The boy told his mother, who alerted store management and Alberi was arrested.
A police search of his laptop yielded dozens of images of child pornography.
WABI-TV reports that Alberi’s lawyer called his client “a good man” who acknowledges he has a problem.
