PORTLAND — A Maine government survey says the average statewide cash price for heating oil dropped another 7 cents in the past week.

The Governor’s Energy Office says the average price was $2.79 a gallon according to the Dec. 22 survey. The average kerosene price of $3.37 was also 7 cents lower than last week. Propane prices declined four cents to $2.73. Heating oil averaged $3.72 per gallon a year ago at this time, while kerosene dropped 75 cents in that time and propane dropped 29 cents.

The highest price for heating oil was again found in southwest Maine, where prices reached $3.24. The lowest prices were also in southwestern Maine, where the low mark was $2.32.
