WELLS — Mitzi Arlene Holbrook, 65, a resident of Heritage Drive and formerly of Kennebunkport, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Biddeford on April 7, 1949, a daughter of Ellsworth and Bessie G. (Brown) Brown Sr.

She graduated from Kennebunk High School, and was employed by the First Parish Congregational Church in Saco as an administrator, retiring in 2011.

She married Donald A. Holbrook Sr. in 1972, and they celebrated 38 years of marriage until his death in 2010.

Mitzi enjoyed quilting, painting, gardening, bird-watching and traveling. She especially loved her two cats.

She was a member of the Aurora Chapter of the Eastern Star of Kennebunkport for many years.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald A. Holbrook Sr.; her sister, Janet Wildes; and her grandson, Geoffrey Holbrook.

She is survived by: her children, Stephen Violette and his companion Kim Pennell of Buxton, Donald A. Holbrook Jr. and his wife Karen of Arundel, Lori Holbrook of Texas, Sherri (Holbrook) Shook and her husband William of Arundel, and Jennifer Holbrook and her companion Andy Holcomb of Wells; grandchildren, Emily and Nichole Violette, Ashleigh Walker, Shane Holbrook, Luke Munster, John Holbrook, Doug Holbrook, and Chris and Brandi Shook; one great-grandson, Landon Holbrook; sisters, Mary Jean Pike and her husband Bruce of Wells and Constance Davis of Biddeford; and a brother, Ellsworth Brown Jr.

Friends may call from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 2 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service with Rev.
