BIDDEFORD — Brooke Flaherty and Sam MacDonald scored 14 points apiece to lead the University of New England women’s basketball team to an impressive 64-48 victory over Salve Regina.

The Nor’easters improved to 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the CCC. Salve Regina fell to 6-6, 3-2.

Alanna Vose came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers and score 11 points for the Nor’easters, who never trailed.

Teammate Lauren Hayden’s six steals helped to hold CCC leading scorer Meaghan Harden (22 ppg) to 11 points. Laura Anne Dinan paced the Seahawks with 14 points while Brianna Del Valle scored 10.

(1) SOUTH CAROLINA 102, ALABAMA 59: The Gamecocks had six players in double figures in a win over the host Tide.

South Carolina (15-0, 3-0 SEC) made 19 of 21 field goals during a couldn’t-miss stretch extending well into the second half.

Alabama fell to 11-7, 0-3.

MIAMI 78, (4) NOTRE DAME 63: Adrienne Motley scored a career-high 31 points, and the host Hurricanes snapped the Fighting Irish’s record-tying 30-game road winning streak.

Jassany Williams blocked a school-record nine shots for the Hurricanes (12-3, 2-0 ACC).

Jewell Loyd scored 27 points for Notre Dame (14-2, 2-1).

(7) TENNESSEE 81, (9) TEXAS A&M 58: Isabelle Harrison scored 21 points and Cierra Burdick had a double-double as the away Volunteers improved to 13-2, 3-0 SEC.

PITTSBURGH 84, (8) NORTH CAROLINA 59: Brianna Kiesel had 22 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Panthers to a win at home.

Monica Wignot added 18 points and 12 rebounds, and Stasha Carey scored 17 for the Panthers (11-4, 1-1 ACC) as they beat a ranked opponent for the first time in nearly four years.

Allisha Gray led North Carolina (14-2, 1-1) with 19 points.

(12) MARYLAND 88, PURDUE 64: Brionna Jones had 16 points as the host Terrapins stayed perfect in the Big Ten.

Jones had nine of Maryland’s 23 offensive rebounds which helped the Terrapins (12-2, 3-0) get 21 more field-goal attempts than Purdue (9-6, 2-2).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

UNE 64, SALVE REGINA 56: Evrim Ozkan sank a pair of jumpers, and Devin Thompson and Jean-Luc Parker drilled 3-pointers as the Nor’easters (3-8, 1-3 CCC) initiated a wire-to-wire lead with an opening 10-0 run against Salve Regina (3-9, 0-5) in Biddeford.

Thompson finished with 15 points, C.J. Autry 11 and Ozkan 10 for UNE. Barrett Hanlon had 23 for the Seahawks, Nicholas Bates 13 and Adam Quinlan 10.

JOHNSON & WALES 73, ST. JOSEPH’S 49: Tom Garrick had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Wilcats (9-3, 4-1) over St. Joseph’s (5-5, 3-1) during a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game in Providence, Rhode Island.

Zach Blodgett’s 10 points led the Monks.

(25) OLD DOMINION 72, MARSHALL 51: Jonathan Arledge scored 13 points to lead the Monarchs on the road in their debut as a ranked team.

Old Dominion (13-1, 2-0 Conference USA) won its 10th straight.
