AUGUSTA — An office building that’s under construction behind Skowhegan Savings Bank on Civic Center Drive will be the new headquarters of Maine Veterans’ Homes.
The nonprofit organization, which has six veterans care homes throughout the state, plans to move from leased space in an office building a mile south on Civic Center Drive to the new 25,000-square-foot building in the middle of February, said Maine Veterans’ Homes CEO Kelley Kash.
Nearly 60 people work at the current office, which is split into two floors and overcrowded, Kash said.
The organization, created by the Maine Legislature in 1977, has facilities in Augusta, Bangor, Caribou, Scarborough, South Paris and Machias, according to its website.
