GRAY — Maria Valente went 15 for 16 at the free-throw line and finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 52-35 win over Lake Region in a Western Maine Conference girls’ basketball game Saturday.

Zoe Adams chipped in 14 points and seven rebounds for the Patriots (10-0).

Lake Region (5-4) was led by Lauren Jakobs with 11 points.

WELLS 40, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 36: Natalie Thurber scored 10 of her 20 points in the fourth quarter, including a late three-point play that extended the lead to four points as the Warriors (2-8) edged the Seagulls (6-1) at Wells.

Abby Dubois scored 18 points to lead Old Orchard Beach.

WAYNFLETE 54, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 13: Annika Brooks scored 15 points and collected 10 rebounds to lead Waynflete (6-2) to a win over North Yarmouth Academy (2-7) at Portland.

Lydia Giguere also scored 15 points and came up with four steals.

POLAND 40, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 35: Nathalie Theriault scored nine of her 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Knights (6-4) edged the Raiders (3-7) at Fryeburg.

Hope Kohtala led the Knights with 15 points.

Alexis L’Heureux-Carland and Julia Quinn each scored 11 points for Fryeburg.

YARMOUTH 50, CAPE ELIZABETH 35: Sara D’Appolonia scored 20 points for the Clippers (4-5) in a win over the Capers (5-4) at Cape Elizabeth.

Cory Langenbach added 10 points for Yarmouth, which opened a 25-15 halftime lead.

The Capers got 11 points from Montana Braxton and 10 from Madeleine Bowe.

FREEPORT 60, TRAIP ACADEMY 44: Kayla Belanger scored 17 points as the Falcons (1-6) beat the Rangers (2-9) at Freeport.

Megan Cormier added 14 points.

Carly Patterson led Traip with 18 points.

YORK 73, KENNEBUNK 21: Mia Briggs scored 12 points and Lily Posternak added 11 to lead the Wildcats (8-2) against visiting Kennebunk (2-8).

Shannon Todd was also in double figures for the Wildcats with 10 points.

BRUNSWICK 52, MT. ARARAT 35: Julia Champagne finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and six steals to lead the Dragons (6-4) past the Eagles (4-7) at Topsham.

Madeline Suhr added 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists, four steals and four blocks. Adrianna White grabbed seven rebounds for Brunswick, which led 15-2 after one quarter.

Mt. Ararat was paced by Sara Lamb with 12 points and Kate Guerin with 10.

OXFORD HILLS 47, MT. BLUE 40: Anna Wilson scored 21 points as the Vikings (9-2) beat the Cougars (6-4) in double overtime at Farmington.

Tianna Sugars added 10 points for Oxford Hills. Caitlin Kane paced Mt. Blue with 13 points.

OAK HILL 41, CARRABEC 35: Bri Mulherin made seven free throws in the fourth quarter and Jamie Prue and Grace Sabine each scored five points as the Raiders (9-1) overcame an 11-point deficit at Wales.

Mulherin finished with 12 points, Prue had 10, and Sabine contributed seven points and six rebounds.

Carrabec (5-6) was led by Emma Pluntke with 10 points and Mickayla Willette with eight.

FOREST HILLS 71, TEMPLE 28: Linda Riley scored 25 points as the Tigers (8-1) cruised to a win in Jackman.

Kiara Carr led Temple (2-6) with 15 points.

SEARSPORT 44, VALLEY 30: Brittany Ward scored 15 points to pace the Vikings to a win in Bingham.

Melinda Ogden added 11 points for Searsport. Dalayne Davis led Valley (4-7) with 11 points.

HOCKEY

CAPE ELIZABETH/WAYNFLETE/SOUTH PORTLAND 4, CHEVERUS 0: Hannah Bosworth scored twice in a three-minute span of the second period as the Capers (7-5) beat the Stags (4-8) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.

The Capers took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Kathryn Clark. Maddy Pellow scored the final goal late in the second period, and Abby Joy recorded the shutout.

FALMOUTH 9, PORTLAND/DEERING 0: Abby Lebel and Camden Carrier scored two goals apiece for the Yachtsmen (8-3) in a win over Portland/Deering at Falmouth.

Eve Clement, Sarah Hutcheon, Martina St. Angelo, Bea Johnson and Stone Carmichael also scored.
