AMHERST, Mass. — Matt Morris stopped 29 shots for his first career shutout, and the University of Maine beat Massachusetts 3-0 in a non-conference men’s hockey game Saturday night at the Mullins Center.

The game was scoreless until 35 seconds into the second period, when Ben Hutton put home the rebound of a shot by Devin Shore during a power play.

Maine (7-14-1) extended the lead when Swavely scored on an assist from Shore 7:18 into the second period. Eric Schurhamer closed the scoring with a power-play goal with 4:36 left.

The Minutemen fell to 6-15.

USM 2, ST. ANSELM 1: Alex Pantalone scored with 6:25 remaining to push the Huskies (3-11-0) past the Hawks (5-7-1) at Gorham.

Stephen Gallo also scored for Southern Maine, and Kyle Shapiro stopped 21 shots.

COLBY 1, HAMILTON 0: Devin Albert scored 50 seconds into the game, Sam Parker stopped 26 shots in his first career shutout, and the Mules (4-7-2, 1-5-2 NESCAC) edged the Continentals (3-5-4, 2-3-2) at Clinton, New York.

AMHERST 4, BOWDOIN 2: Austin Ho scored twice, Dave Cunningham made 45 saves and the Lord Jeffs (9-2-2, 5-2 NESCAC) held off the visiting Polar Bears (7-3-2, 3-3-2).

Matthew Lison and Zach Kokosa scored for Bowdoin, which had a 47-25 shot advantage.

NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 3, UNE 3: Ben Pearl scored his second goal of the game 4:35 into the third period to put the Nor’easters (4-9-1, 2-6-1 ECAC East) ahead, but the Pilgrims (4-7-3, 3-5-1) answered 41 seconds later for a tie at Biddeford.

Ryan Quinn also scored for UNE. Colby Drost had 43 saves.

BOSTON UNIVERSITY 5, MAINE 3: Victoria Bach had a goal and two assists, and the host Terriers (13-4-2, 9-3 Hockey East) took a 3-0 lead in beating the Black Bears (7-11-3, 6-4-1).

Jillian Langry, Audra Richards and Emilie Brigham scored for Maine.

UNE 1, SACRED HEART 0: Emily Corrales scored a power-play goal at 10:45 of the first period, Samantha Scobee stopped 37 shots, and the host Nor’easters (4-7-2) beat the Pioneers (5-8-1).

BOWDOIN 3, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 1: Rachel Kennedy scored with two seconds left in the first period and again at 7:40 of the second to spark the Polar Bears (7-2-2, 3-1) against the visiting Camels (8-2-3, 3-1-2).

Julie Dachille also had a goal for Bowdoin.

AMHERST 2, COLBY 1: Tori Salmon scored twice to lead the Lord Jeffs (10-1-1, 6-0-0 NESCAC) past the Mules (5-6-0, 0-6-0) at Waterville.

Lauren Gaurente scored for Colby.

SALVE REGINA 2, USM 1: Michaela Chiuccariello had a goal and an assist, Danielle Phalon also scored, and the Seahawks (4-5-1) defeated the Huskies (3-9-1) at Gorham.

Katie Couture scored in the third period for USM.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

MAINE 68, HARTFORD 57: Sophie Weckstrom went 8 for 13 from the floor in scoring a career-high 21 points, and the Black Bears (9-6, 1-1 America East) rallied past the Hawks (8-9, 2-1) at Hartford, Connecticut.

Sigi Koizar added 17 points for the Black Bears, who started the second half with a 14-5 run to erase a seven-point deficit.

Anna Heise chipped in 15 points for Maine, which led by as much as 14 in the second half.

ST. JOSEPH’S 72, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 61: Abbie Eastman hit a 3-pointer with 2:45 left to break a 61-61 tie and Sarah Assante scored the next eight points as the Monks (8-3, 1-0 GNAC) beat the Falcons (5-8, 0-3) at New Haven, Connecticut.

Morgan Cahill had 22 points and six rebounds for the Monks. Assante got her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

BOWDOIN 75, WESLEYAN 52: Megan Phelps had 17 points and seven rebounds, and host Bowdoin (13-2, 2-0 NESCAC) beat the Cardinals (5-7, 0-2) for its 10th straight victory.

Phelps scored 15 in the first half as the Polar Bears built a 38-19 lead.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 62, COLBY 61: Mairead Hynes scored 18 points, and the Camels (10-3, 1-1 NESCAC) used a 17-3 second-half run to rally past Colby (10-3, 1-1) at Waterville.

Mia Diplock scored 18 points for the Mules. Haley Driscoll had 17.

UNE 81, NICHOLS 48: Kelly Coleman recorded her 17th career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, and the Nor’easters (8-2, 4-0 Commonwealth Coast) rolled past the Bison (4-8, 1-5) at Dudley, Massachusetts.

Alanna Vose had 20 points for UNE.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 77, USM 68: Bri Hochwater scored 24 points off the bench to lead the Corsairs (9-3, 3-0 Little East) over the host Huskies (6-7, 2-1).

UMass-Dartmouth used a 25-16 run over the last 11 minutes to take control.

Megan Pelletier had 32 points and 11 rebounds for the Huskies.

ST. JOSEPH (VT.) 71, SMCC 58: The Fighting Saints (8-3, 5-0 Yankee Small College Conference) outscored the Seawolves 43-28 in the second half to rally at South Portland.

Amira Jones had 13 points for Southern Maine CC (9-7, 6-3).

MEN’S BASKETBALL

BINGHAMTON 65, MAINE 46: Willie Rodriguez scored 19 points, Romello Walker had 18 points and eight boards, and host Binghamton (2-16, 1-2 America East) had little trouble dispatching the Black Bears (1-14, 0-3).

Till Gloger paced Maine with 16 points and eight rebounds.

COLBY 79, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 70: Chris Hudnut scored 24 points and had seven rebounds to lead Colby (9-5, 2-0 NESCAC) to a win over the Camels (7-6, 0-2) at New London, Connecticut.

Luke Westman chipped in with 21 points. Ryan Jann had 14.

WESLEYAN 77, BOWDOIN 59: Lucas Hausman scored 26 points, but Bowdoin (9-4, 1-1 NESCAC) fell at Middletown, Connecticut.

Jack Mackey and Joe Edmonds each scored 18 points for the Cardinals (11-3, 1-1).

SMCC 102, ST. JOSEPH (VT.) 82: Tyheem Simon scored 13 of his 18 points in the first half as the host Seawolves (13-2, 9-0 YSCC) raced to a 61-35 lead over the Fighting Saints (7-9, 3-1).

Jordan DeRosby added 15 points and Atencio Martin had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Seawolves. All five SMCC starters scored in double figures.

ALBERTUS MAGNUS 101, ST. JOSEPH’S 88: Tavon Sledge had 24 points to lead six players in double digits as the Falcons (11-1, 6-0 GNAC) easily defeated the Monks (5-6, 3-2) at New Haven, Connecticut.

Zach Blodgett led St. Joseph’s with 25 points. Steve Simonds added 22 points and eight rebounds, and Quinn Richardson-Newton tossed in 20 points.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 64, USM 59: Jake Laga scored 22 points and hit two of his six 3-pointers in the final four minutes to push the Corsairs (7-6, 3-0 Little East) past Southern Maine (3-10, 0-3) at Gorham.

Jacob Littlefield had 28 points for the Huskies.

NICHOLS 100, UNE 46: Gustave Koumare had 27 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals, and the Bison (9-4, 6-0 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Nor’easters (3-9, 1-4) at Dudley, Massachusetts.
