FARMINGTON — The Brunswick High School boys basketball team ended a four-game losing skid with a dominating 68-40 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory over Mt. Blue on Tuesday.

The Dragons improved to 5-7 and visits Brewer on Friday (7 p.m.), while the Cougars fell to 1-11.

“Ten players cracked the scoring column,” said Brunswick coach Todd Hanson. “I loved our intensity from the get-go. We were focused and made a commitment to the defensive end.”

Brunswick darted out to a 16-10 first quarter lead and took control in the second, outscoring Mt. Blue 22-10 for a 38-20 halftime lead.

Alex Bandouveres had 16 points and nine rebounds to power the Dragons, with Josh Dorr adding 12 points and seven assists, Thomas Hanson eight points and three steals, and Taran Payne seven points.

Mt. Blue’s Zach Mittelstadt had 10 points, with Evan Backus chipping in eight.

The Red Eddies jumped out to a big first-quarter lead and pulled away from there for a KVAC win at Auburn.

Edward Little (11-0) received 10 points from Lew Jensen in the opening frame for a 27-9 lead. EL held quarter leads of 43-23 at the half and 60-29 after three. Jensen finished with 14 points, while teammates Ian Mileikis and Kaleb Main shared game-high honors with 16 points apiece.

Shy Ulrickson had 14 points for Mt. Ararat, which fell to 4-8 and hosts Hampden Academy on Friday at 7 p.m. Mason Griffin added 11 points in the loss.

The host Eagles recovered from a 12-point second half deficit, outscoring the Shipbuilders 22-13 in the fourth quarter for a KVAC Class B win at Newcastle.

Morse, which fell to 9-3 and hosts Erskine Academy on Friday at 7 p.m., opened the second half with a 9-0 run for 32-20 lead. But, Lincoln battled back, closing to 38-33 after three quarters.

Ethan Winglass had a game-high 22 points for the Shipbuilders, while Keegan McDonough netted 13 points.

Brady Leeman hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with 14 points for Lincoln Academy, with Cody Tozier adding 13 points and eight rebounds, and Devin Scherer 11 points.

Antoine Montgomery had 12 points as the Phoenix improved to 7-1 with a Western D win at Bath.

Andrew Palermo added 10 points for Hyde, which hosts Islesboro on Thursday at 6 p.m.
