PORTLAND (AP) — The owner of a Portland apartment building where six people died in a fire has one week to clean up fire safety issues at another building he owns in the same neighborhood.

City officials inspected Gregory Nisbet’s Dartmouth Street apartment building in December after receiving a complaint about fire hazards. He also owns a building two blocks away on Noyes Street where six people died in a Nov. 1 fire that remains under investigation.

Officials gave Nisbet until Jan. 20 to correct hazards at the Dartmouth Street building.

A city spokeswoman says officials followed up Dec. 19 and found debris on that site and other hazards. She says inspectors will schedule another inspection and could issue Nisbet a notice of violation if the issues haven’t been corrected.
