FREEPORT — Zach Hirst scored 17 points Wednesday night to lead Old Orchard Beach to a 55-48 victory against Freeport in a Western Maine Conference schoolboy basketball game.

Eric Hogan added 13 points for Old Orchard (5-4), all from the foul line.

Jack Davenport led Freeport (0-11) with 16 points.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 66, BELFAST 43: Nicholas DePatsy scored 11 second-half points, and Micah Williamson and Zach Starr keyed the defense as Medomak Valley (10-2) pulled away from the Lions (6-6) with a 31-11 run in the third period at Belfast.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

BOOTHBAY REGION 51, DIRIGO 42: Morgan Crocker and Cagney O’Brien scored 16 points apiece for the Seahawks (11-1) against Dirigo (9-2) at Boothbay Harbor.

EDWARD LITTLE 59, MT. ARARAT 38: Brooke Reynolds scored 16 points to lead the Red Eddies (8-3) over Mt. Ararat (4-8) at Topsham.

Allison Melcher and Sara Lamb had eight points and 10 rebounds apiece for the Eagles.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

SCARBOROUGH 1, GORHAM 1: Carl Bear drove the net and stuffed a power-play goal into the short side to give Gorham (7-1-1) a 1-0 lead after 3:42 of the second period. Two minutes later, Sean McGovern flipped home the rebound of his shot to tie it for the Red Storm (6-3-2) at Gorham.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, EDWARD LITTLE 1: Curtis Guimond’s shot from the top of the circle flew over the goalie’s glove to lift the Capers (6-4) over Edward Little (5-5) with 3:50 left at Portland.

Ben Ekedahl gave Cape Elizabeth a 1-0 lead at 9:41 of the second.

LAWRENCE/SKOWHEGAN 4, POLAND/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/OAK HILL 1: Brady Martin and Cody Martin scored twice each to lead the Bandits (3-5-1) past Poland/Gray-New Gloucester/Oak Hill (3-6) at Winslow.

NOBLE/WELLS 5, WINDHAM 1: Dean Pratt’s two goals and an assist led Noble/Wells (6-2) over the Eagles (3-4-1) at Auburn.

Ryan Marsh’s goal two minutes into the second period broke a 1-1 tie and began a three-goal second period for Noble/Wells.
