BRUNSWICK — Madelene Mae Pierce, 66, went to sleep in Christ following a chronic illness on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at her home.

She was born on Sept. 15, 1948, in Bath, Maine, the daughter of Juanita Richardson Gomes and Trueman Gomes.

She attended Phippsburg School and Morse High School in Bath.

She is survived by three sons, Arthur Pierce III and his wife Marie of Sebasco, Owen Pierce and his wife Rebekah of Lisbon, and Paul Pierce and his wife Lorana of Phippsburg. Six grandchildren, Arthur Pierce IV of Sebasco, Amanda Pierce of Bath, Brandon and Joshua Pierce of Lisbon, and Alex and Kali Pierce of Phippsburg. A brother, Eugene Gomes of Phippsburg, two sisters, Belinda and Carrie Gomes, also of Phippsburg.

She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers, Charles Gomes, Truman Gomes and Duane Gomes.

Madelene was an active member of the Nazarene churches in Westpoint and Sebasco, Maine. She enjoyed singing hymns, writing and attending prayer meetings.

She loved knitting, embroidery and puzzles. She was a faithful friend to many and will be sadly missed.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Sebasco Nazarene Church, Sebasco Road, Phippsburg, Maine. Pastor Wes Murphy will be officiating.
