BRUNSWICK — Clifford O. Dolloff, 97, of Brunswick, passed away on Thursday evening, Jan. 15, 2015, at Mid Coast Hospital.

He was born on May 2, 1917, in Mount Vernon, Maine, son of Norris and Ethel Puls Dolloff. As a young man, he worked at Elizabeth Arden’s estate and boxed under the name Windy Riley during the early 1930s.

Mr. Dolloff married his beloved wife Emma Pratt of Winthrop on May 10, 1936, in Litchfield and they were together for 63 years. They moved their family to Brunswick in 1942 so Mr. Dolloff could help construct the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Mr. Dolloff helped build landmarks including the Senior Center at Bowdoin College, the Maine Yankee Nuclear Power Plant and the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant. He worked at Bath Iron Works for 10 years and spent 40 years in his trade as a carpenter.

Mr. Dolloff attended the East Brunswick Baptist Church and served as deacon and trustee for over 60 years. In addition to being devoted to his church, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, eating, singing, and telling stories and jokes.

Mr. Dolloff became engaged to Leila Fournier of Freeport in 2001 and travelled overseas for the first time at age 85. Over the years, he enjoyed several extended visits to Kansas and Louisiana to see his children’s families there.

He will be remembered as a great man who deeply loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his two sons, Richard Dolloff of Shreveport, La., and Robert Dolloff and his wife Cecile of Brunswick; eight grandchildren, Linda Cuthbertson Traveller and her husband

Chris of Kansas, Dale Cuthbertson and his wife Valerie of Kansas, Ronna Beecher and her husband Fred of Louisiana, Russell Dolloff of Louisiana, Diane Lynch and her husband John of Massachusetts, Lisa Williams and her husband Tim of Vermont, Paula Cuthbertson of Kansas, Pamela Hendrix and her husband Ken of Kansas; 13 great-grandchildren: Craig Cuthbertson, Chris Beecher, Chad Engel, Nathan Beecher, Macie Voelschow, Audrey Colson, Sarah Hendrix, Andrew Colson, Christopher Hendrix, April Lynch, Peter Lynch, Owen Williams and Neva Williams; 12 great-greatgrandchildren: Taylor Engel, Joshua Beecher, Andrew Beecher, Mara Engel, Elizabeth Beecher, Mason Engel, Olivia Beecher, Kane Cuthbertson, Caden Hilzer, Kollyns Cuthbertson, Taylor Voelschow and Lauren Voelschow.

Mr. Dolloff is also survived by his fiancée Leila Fournier and his special niece Nancy, in addition to several more nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Emma, daughter Dorothy and her husband Don Cuthbertson of Canton, Kan., his daughter-in-law Jeanette Dolloff of Shreveport, La., sisters Alberta and Flora and brother Floyd.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at East Brunswick Baptist Church, Farley Road, Brunswick. Spring interment will be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade.
