YARMOUTH — A local teenage ice skater was on his way home Tuesday from North Carolina, where he and a partner earned praise on the ice.

Franz-Peter Jerosch, 13, and his 16-year-old partner Lindsey Stevenson of Southborough, Massachusetts, placed eighth in Juvenile Pairs at the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships Greensboro on Jan. 17.

In a telephone interview while he returned from South Carolina, Jerosch said he and Stevenson didn’t do as well as they had hoped, but they were “happy with the placement that we got.”

He said other skaters “had more lift” than he did, which his mother Anita attributed to wide age ranges in the groups. Lifts are a required element in pair skating.

“There’s a pretty big age difference in the juvenile age category,” she said.

The pair started ninth, and received a score of 31.37. The first-place pair received a score of 39.12. Even though they didn’t do as well as they had hoped, Jerosch said he still enjoyed watching the rest of the competition.

This was the last event of the season, and now Jerosch said he will focus on training and a couple of skating shows before reconvening with Stevenson and their coaches to “see what the plan is for the next year.”

Jerosch and Stevenson recently performed their routine at Family Ice Center in Falmouth. Family Ice is host to the North Atlantic Figure Skating Club, where Jerosch is a member. He and Stevenson represented the Skating Club of Boston in Greensboro.
