ARUNDEL — Claude P. Dubois, 69, of Arundel, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born Feb. 28, 1945 in Arundel, a son of Fernando and Annette (Morin) Dubois.

He was educated locally at St. Joseph’s School and Biddeford High School.

On Oct. 3, 1964, he married Claire Guay at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

As a young man, Claude had worked on the family dairy farm. Later, he owned and operated Claude Dubois Excavating in Lyman, where he had 100 employees. He had been involved in the excavation industry for 46 years. The Biddeford Spur was one of his large projects.

He was a member of the Abenaki Horse Club, and was the proud owner of two draft horses and a hay wagon that they pulled with family and friends.

In his spare time, he enjoyed taking his grandchildren and great grandchildren on sleigh rides.

He is preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Nicole Oliver; and two sisters, Pierrette Morin and Monique Saucier.

He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Claire Dubois of Arundel; a daughter, Cathy Sawyer and her husband Leroy of Arundel; two sons, Carl Dubois of Lyman and Chuck Dubois of California; two brothers, Marcel Dubois and his wife Cindy of Arundel, and Robert Dubois and his wife Janice of Lyman; three sisters, Claire Thibeault of Winslow, Eliane Collette and her husband Richard of Biddeford, and Aline Fortier and her husband Leo Paul of Merrimack, New Hampshire; five grandchildren, Chelsea Bellerose and her husband Nate, Katie Sawyer and her fiancée Gislain Nadeau, Jakob Sawyer, Ryan Sawyer and Thomas Sawyer; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Oliver, Anthony Oliver, and Emma Bellerose; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23 at the South Waterboro Bible Chapel, 911 Main St., Route 202, South Waterboro. Burial will follow at 2:15 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. To share condolences online, visit www.hopememorial.com.
