Police arrested a Brunswick man Thursday night after he allegedly threatened to harm his girlfriend in a motel cabin on the New Meadows River.

Lt. Todd Ridlon said in a press release that police officers responded to the New Meadows Motel, at 393 Bath Road, around 6:20 p.m. after a 29-year-old woman told police that her boyfriend had assaulted her and threatened her with a shotgun during a dispute.

She fled, but when Brunswick police arrived, Robert Lind, 39, refused to come out of the cabin he had rented.

The Brunswick Police Special Response Team was called in and persuaded Lind to come out of the cabin peacefully. He was taken into custody and transported to the Cumberland County Jail where he was charged with domestic violence assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

Lind was being held without bail. Several weapons, including a shotgun, were seized by police.
