GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine Department of Athletics will be hosting its annual “Think Pink” charitable event on Jan. 31 to help raise awareness and charitable donations for cancer research and prevention.

The Southern Maine men’s and women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey teams, and the men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams will wear items of pink during their respective competitions.

Throughout the day, student-athletes and fans alike will be encouraged to wear pink. USM Athletics will sponsor a 50/50 raffle to be sold at the sites of each game and will be selling “Think Pink” T-shirts. Shirts will be on sale for $20 and can be pre-ordered through Meredith Bickford at mbickford@usm.maine.edu. A signed pink basketball and a pink hockey stick will also be raffled off at each venue. All proceeds from the event will be donated to cancer research through the American Cancer Society.

Visit www.usm.maine.edu for more information on the event and times of games throughout the day.
