AUGUSTA – The Maine Democratic State Committee has named Jeremy Kennedy the new executive director of the Maine Democratic Party and elected former Maine Senate Majority Leader Troy Jackson to the Democratic National Committee.

State committee members Sunday unanimously approved Kennedy’s new role. He replaces Mary Erin Casale, who stepped down last year.

As executive director, Kennedy will oversee party operations and staff, fundraising, communications and the party’s biennial state conventions. He previously served as the party’s finance director and Get Out The Vote director in 2012 and 2014.

Jackson replaces state party chair Phil Bartlett on the Democratic National Committee. He’ll act as a liaison between the national committee and the state committee. He previously served in the Senate and the Maine House of Representatives.
