I had the pleasure of working for Dr. John Fitzsimmons years ago. He was a very effective supervisor, and his talents were recognized quickly; he moved on to bigger challenges with the Department of Labor and then the Maine Community College System.
We coached football together and played softball, and anyone who knows him understands that he has a passion for whatever he takes on. He is humble and soft-spoken, but will always get the job done.
I was extremely surprised when the governor called out publicly for Dr. Fitzsimmons’ resignation, adding his own brash comments about his wrath and seeming retaliation if he didn’t resign. That behavior by our governor should not be a representation of the way life should be in our state.
