ROCKPORT — Mac Deford and Tom DeMarco are back with their patented 100- minute history extravaganza, this time on the subject of Imperial Russia and its implacable march to doom in the Great War. Along the way you’ll meet colorful characters like Tsar Alexander-II (the Liberator), Bismarck, Louis Napoleon, the Anarchists Mikhail Bakunin, Emma Goldman and Prince Peter Kropotkin, Lola Montez, Trotsky, Lenin, and the lovely Krupskaya, Wilhelm and Nicholas and Rasputin. You might even come away with a partial answer to the question that haunts historians to this day: Why did the Great War happen and how could it have been avoided?

The lesson will take place at the Rockport Opera House on February 13 at 7 p.m. This event is co-presented by the Rockport Public Library and the Camden Conference in anticipation of the 28th Annual Camden Conference: Russia Resurgent, February 20-22, 2015.

The mission of the Camden Conference is to foster informed discourse on world issues. For more information, visit www.camdenconference.org, write an email to info@camdenconference.org, or call 207-236- 1034.
