GEORGETOWN — Frances Mary Fossett, 90, of Georgetown, passed away on Dec. 16, 2014. Frances was born in Portland, Maine, on Jan. 30, 1924, the daughter of James and Albina (Arsenault) Rollins.
Frances was a homemaker, she took pride in raising her son and daughter, and taking care of her family. There was nothing more important to her. She married her best friend, Harlon Fossett, and the couple enjoyed traveling the world together during his military career. Although she felt grateful for being able to experience the world, she always longed for the time she would return to her family in her beloved Maine. In 1978, she did this.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harlon; her daughter, Lynda Colby; a brother, Theodore Rollins; a sister, Diana Cooper; and a greatgrandson, Nathanial Fossett.
She leaves behind her son, Harold of Shenandoah County, VA; a grandson, Kenneth Fossett and his wife Tammy of Ashburn, VA; a granddaughter, Cassandra Wright and her husband Richard of Dale City, VA; three brothers, Norman and Kenneth Rollins, of Manchester, Maine, and Clayton Rollins of Augusta, Maine; and four great-grandsons, Alex, Zachary, Jacob and Simon.
At Frances’ request, there was no visitation or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
