TOPSHAM — Julia Champagne surpassed 1,000 career points with five minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Brunswick girls’ basketball team beat Mt. Ararat 69-37 on Thursday night.

Champagne finished with 34 points for the Dragons (11-6). She also had seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

She is the fourth Brunswick girl to reach 1,000 career points.

Gillian Doehring added 10 points, eight assists and four steals for Brunswick.

Sara Lamb had 11 points for Mt. Ararat (6-12).

MCAULEY 55, CHEVERUS 42: Jessica Willerson scored 17 points to lead the Lions (17-1) over the visiting Stags (10-8).

Willerson scored seven points in the third quarter as the Lions opened a 10-point lead.

Olivia Dalphonse added 13 points and three assists. Sarah Clement scored 11 points and dished out four assists.

Laura Holman and Brooke Dawson each had 11 points for Cheverus.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 37, POLAND 19: Alicia Dumont scored eight points and Skye Conley added seven points and eight rebounds as the Patriots (17-1) handled the Knights (9-9) at Gray.

Grace Karitois and Maria Valente each finished with six points.

The Patriots used a full-court zone press in the first half and a half-court player-to-player defense in the second to hold Poland to four points in the middle quarters.

Hope Kohtala and Caroline Littlefield each had five points for Poland.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 33, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 23: Kylene DeSmith scored nine points to lead Seacoast Christian (8-10) to a win over the Panthers (4-14) at Yarmouth.

Elizabeth Coughlin had seven points for NYA.

GORHAM 50, WESTBROOK 42: Emily Esposito scored 15 points to pace the Rams (16-2) in a win over Westbrook (7-11) at Gorham.

Kristen Curley added seven points and 10 rebounds, while Kaylea Lundin had seven offensive rebounds for the Rams. Caitlyn Hawxwell chipped in 10 points.

Alisha Aube finished with 16 points for the Blue Blazes.

FALMOUTH 48, KENNEBUNK 23: Dayna Vasconcelos scored 17 points for the Yachstmen (12-6) as they beat the Rams (2-16) at Falmouth.

Gabby Fogg scored 11 points for Kennebunk.

GREELY 35, CAPE ELIZABETH 25: Ashley Storey accounted for more than half of Greely’s (15-2) total points with 19 as the Rangers defeated the Capers (15-2) at Cape Elizabeth.

Madeleine Bowe scored nine points for Cape.

TRAIP ACADEMY 35, WELLS 33: Jessica MacNeill scored 13 points in the Rangers’ (8-20) win over the Warriors (4-14) at Kittery.

The Warriors rallied with 13 points in the fourth quarter and had a chance to tie the game with 15 seconds left, but MacNeil’s smothering defense held Wells scoreless.

Natalie Thurber scored 12 points for Wells.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 46, SACOPEE VALLEY 17: Abby Brunell scored seven points as the Raiders (8-9) beat the Hawks (9-9) in Fryeburg.

Julia Quinn and Nicole Bennett each added six points for Fryeburg, which jumped out to a 17-4 lead in the first quarter.

Annette Humphrey had five points for the Hawks.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 40, RICHMOND 27: Abigail Dubois scored 14 points as the Seagulls (14-3) beat the Bobcats (11-6) in Richmond.

Sydney Tilton had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds for Richmond.

DEERING 53, PORTLAND 47: Katasia Titherington scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, as the visiting Rams (15-3) held off the Bulldogs (8-10) at Portland.

Cierra Burnhan had 12 points for Deering.

Elizabeth Donato led the Bulldogs with 16 points. Gabrielle Wagabaza added 15 points and Taylor Sargent had 11 for Portland.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 50, WISCASSET 34: Sidney Wilson scored 14 points for the Mustangs (13-4) as they defeated the Wolverines (4-14) at Monmouth.

Alecia Faulkingham led Wiscasset with 10 points.

WINDHAM 54, BONNY EAGLE 41: Sadie Nelson scored 18 points and the Eagles (8-10) used a 16-6 run in the second quarter to pull away from the Scots (6-12) at Standish.

The Eagles made four 3-pointers in the second, including two by Macy Mannette, who finished with nine points.

Cassidy Emery had 14 points, while Elizabeth Bushey had nine points for Bonny Eagle.

MARSHWOOD 60, NOBLE 27: Kathleen Locke had 14 points to lead the Hawks (10-8) over the Knights (1-17) at North Berwick.

Megan McLean and Emily Robida each had 11 points for Marshwood.

Kathryn Taylor led Noble with 10 points.

YARMOUTH 62, FREEPORT 38: Sarah D’Appolonia scored 17 points as the Clippers (7-11) beat the Falcons (2-16) at Freeport.

Johanna Hattan added 14 points for Yarmouth.

Regan Lynch scored 11 points for Freeport.

LAWRENCE 67, MESSALONSKEE 40: Nia Irving poured in 31 points and pulled down 18 rebounds as the Bulldogs (16-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season with a win over the Eagles (9-9).

WINSLOW 53, LEAVITT 51 (OT): Ciara LeClair scored at the buzzer to give the Black Raiders (10-8) a win over the Hornets (7-11) in Winslow.

Windham: Senior Cassie Symonds was named the Gatorade Maine Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the second straight season.

Symonds, who lead the Eagles to a 17-0-1 record and a second straight Class A state championship, had six goals and 10 assists as a senior.

The award recognizes athletic excellence and academic achievement.
