Officials to speak at USM Gorham night

David Flanagan, president of the University of Southern Maine, and Michael Phinney, chairman of the Gorham Town Council, will speak at a reception for university and town officials, on Gorham Night on Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 6-8 p.m., in the Alumni Reception Center.

Flanagan and Phinney will deliver comments at 7 p.m.

In the Costello Sports Complex, the USM women’s basketball team will play Plymouth State at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s team will play their Plymouth State counterparts at 7:30 p.m. Gorham third- and fourth-grade girls will play an exhibition game at halftime of the women’s game while the Gorham third- and fourth-grade boys will play a halftime exhibition game during the men’s game.

Planning meeting rescheduled

The Gorham Planning Board meeting that was postponed because of Monday’s storm will held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9.

Elder abuse woman’s club topic

Gorham Woman’s Club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 12, in the fellowship hall at First Parish Congregational Church, 1 Church St., Gorham.

Refreshments at 12:30 p.m. will be followed by an informational presentation about elder abuse awareness.
