CUMBERLAND — George A. “Bud” King, 90, died peacefully on Feb. 1 at his son’s home in Cumberland, surrounded by family.
King lived for 60 years in Medford, Massachusetts, where he ran his own business. He retired to spend summers at his home on Lake Winnipesaukee in Gilford, New Hampshire, and winters at his home in Fort Myers, Florida.
He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served in the North Atlantic during World War II. He was also a longtime member of the Order of the Masons.
King was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Ethel (Bolles) King; his brother, Herbert E. King Jr.; and his sister, Marjorie Martin.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Leona (Day) King; his son, Glenn, and wife, Mary King, of Fort Myers; his son, Gary, and wife, Elizabeth King, of Cumberland; and daughter, Nancy, and husband, Richard Sartorelli, of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral was held Feb. 6 in Yarmouth, and private burial followed on Feb. 9 at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody, Massachusetts.
