Due to forecasts of sub-zero temperatures Friday night, the Kiwanis Family Skate Night in Riverbank Park, part of this weekend’s Winter West activities, has been canceled.

Maria Dorn, the director of Westbrook Community Services, said this week that another skate night is being planned for early March. The rink, next to the Dunn Street American Legion Hall, has been maintained by a core of volunteers and sponsored by Glacial Multimedia. Ice skating will still be hosted Saturday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

The rest of the Winter West activities are intact. Sunset Ridge Golf Links will host sled dog races Saturday and Sunday. On Friday, local comedian Krazy Jake will perform at Sunset Ridge at 8 p.m.

For Saturday’s sled dog competitions, there will be a free spectator shuttle bus running between the CVS parking lot off Main Street and Sunset Ridge on Cumberland Street. There will be pick-ups every hour between 9 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, see www.facebook.com/WinterWestFestival.
