BRUNSWICK — Lucas Hausman tied the school record with 44 points Friday night as the Bowdoin men’s basketball team earned a 98-70 victory against Bates at Morrell Gymnasium.

Hausman tied the record set by Bill Fraser during the 1953-54 season, also against Bates.

Hausman broke Fraser’s single-game field-goal record of 18 by making 20 of 25 attempts, including 4 of 4 from 3-point range.

Hausman was 9 of 11 with two 3-pointers in the first half to help Bowdoin (16-6, 6-3 NESCAC) to a 48-33 lead at halftime.

Bryan Hurley had 15 points, John Swords 14 and Matt Palecki 12 against Bates (17-5, 6-3).

TUFTS 72, COLBY 64: Ryan Spadaford scored 17 points to lead the Jumbos (13-10, 6-3 NESCAC) over the Mules (13-10, 4-5) at Waterville.

The Jumbos took the lead for good 50-48 on consecutive 3-pointers by Stephen Haladyna, and made 8 of 8 free throws in the final minute.

Ryan Jann led Colby with 26 points, and also had seven rebounds and four assists.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

BOWDOIN 74, BATES 67: Sara Binkhorst scored 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the Polar Bears (21-2, 9-0 NESCAC) held off the Bobcats (9-14, 0-9) at Lewiston.

Shannon Brady added 15 points and Kate Kerrigan finished with 13 for the Polar Bears.

Nina Davenport scored a season-high 34 points for the Bobcats, who rallied from a 14-point deficit with 12:26 remaining in the second half to take the lead 60-59 with 4:52 left.

TUFTS 64, COLBY 45: Lauren Dillon scored 13 points, and Michela North and Hayley Kanner each had 10 as the Jumbos (22-1, 9-0 NESCAC) handled the Mules (16-7, 4-5) at Medford, Massachusetts.

The Jumbos closed the first half with a 5-0 run for a 32-24 lead, then opened the second half with a 13-4 run for a 45-28 lead with 15:09 left.

(16) PRINCETON 86, BROWN 58: Blake Dietrick scored 18 points and all five starters scored in double figures as Princeton (22-0, 6-0 Ivy) remained the only unbeaten Division I women’s basketball team by beating Brown (9-12, 3-4) at Providence, Rhode Island.

BASEBALL

WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE 10, MAINE 0: Sam Koenig went 3 for 4 with three RBI and two runs as Wisconsin-Milwaukee won an opener at Winter Haven, Florida.

Brian Doran finished with three hits and John Arel struck out four batters over two scoreless innings of relief for Maine.

SOFTBALL

MAINE 3, JACKSONVILLE STATE 1: Felicia Lennon hit an RBI double during a two-run third inning and added an RBI single in the sixth to lead the Black Bears (1-0) over the Gamecocks (4-3) at Jacksonville, Florida.

Alexis Bogdanovich had five strikeouts and did not walk a batter while pitching a six-hitter for the Black Bears.

Erika Leonard scored a pair of runs for Maine and Janelle Bouchard hit an RBI single.

NORTH FLORIDA 3, MAINE 0: Abby Tewey hit a two-run single during a three-run sixth inning and Kaylie Wallace had eight strikeouts while throwing a four-hitter for the Ospreys (6-0) against the Black Bears (1-1) at Jacksonville, Florida.

Janelle Bouchard had a pair of hits for the Black Bears.

MEN’S HOCKEY

NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 1, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: James O’Reilly scored 1:47 into the second period and the Pilgrims (9-11-4, 6-9-2 ECAC East) held off the Nor’easters (8-13-2, 6-9-2) at Henniker, New Hampshire.

UNE goalie Colby Drost finished with 30 saves. Sebastian Andersson stopped all 30 shots he faced for the Pilgrims.

WESLEYAN 2, COLBY 1: Jay Matthews scored 3:08 into overtime to lift the Cardinals (3-18, 2-13 NESCAC) over the Mules (5-13-3, 2-10-3) at Middletown, Connecticut.

Colby fell behind 1-0 in the final minute of the first period but tied it when Cam MacDonald scored with 36 seconds left in the second.

TRINITY 5, BOWDOIN 4: Jackson Brewer scored the go-ahead goal 4:24 into the third period as the Bantams (18-2-1, 13-1-1 NESCAC) came back from a 4-3 deficit against the Polar Bears (12-6-3, 6-6-3) at Hartford, Connecticut.

John McGinnis had one goal and two assists for the Polar Bears, and Tim Coffey added one goal and one assist.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

HAMILTON 1, BOWDOIN 1: Lan Crofton finished with 17 saves for the Polar Bears (9-7-5, 5-5-3 NESCAC) and Julie Dachille scored in a tie against the Continentals (8-9-4, 2-8-3) at Brunswick.

After a scoreless first period, Bowdoin took the lead 5:10 into the second when Dachille scored on a power play from Maddie Baird and Brigit Bergin. Hamilton scored 21 seconds into the third.

BOSTON COLLEGE 6, MAINE 0: Dana Trivigno had one goal and a pair of assists as the top-ranked Eagles (28-1-1, 18-0 Hockey East) scored four times in the third period to pull away from the Black Bears (10-15-3, 9-8-1) at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Meghann Treacy finished with 39 saves for the Black Bears, who were outshot, 45-9.

NORWICH 1, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Lynn Kozlowski scored a goal and Nia Kelly made 37 saves for the Huskies (7-13-2, 5-7-2 ECAC East) in a tie against the Cadets (14-4-3, 11-0-2) at Gorham.

Kozlowski opened the scoring 7:07 into the game from Cassandra Sherman. Norwich tied the game with 2:26 left in regulation.

COLBY 2, WESLEYAN 1: Katie Tang scored 2:09 into overtime to give the Mules (12-9, 4-9 NESCAC) the win over the Cardinals (8-11-1, 3-9-1) at Waterville.

Maddie Dewhirst assisted on the goal, Tang’s third of the season.

CASTLETON STATE 3, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2: Tori Pizzuto scored two goals as the Spartans (11-10-1, 6-7-1 ECAC East) edged the Nor’easters (4-13-5, 1-10-3) at Biddeford.

Emily Corrales scored a power-play goal eight minutes into the second period, and added an even-strength goal with 2:40 left in the period.
