WELLS — Two horses that disappeared during Sunday’s snowstorm have been found, the Wells Police Department reported Monday morning.

The horses, named Spot and Bailey, wandered away from Canticle Farm on Wire Road in Wells. They were located about a mile and a half away from the farm a little before 11 a.m. Monday, about 20 hours after they were last seen.

A veterinarian examined Spot and Bailey after they were caught and could find nothing wrong with either.

Canticle farm boarder Katy Wormwood said people started looking for the horses on Sunday shortly after they escaped. They were able to get past the fencing because the snow was so high, according to Wormwood.

The search resumed Monday morning. Searchers on snowshoes and cross-country skis spotted tracks off Chick Road. Wells police assisted in the search.

Canticle Farm thanked rescue volunteers on its Facebook page. “Thank you everyone who is helping us look,” the farm posted.

Wells received nearly a foot and a half of snow during the weekend storm.
