Brunswick police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a robbery reported at the Bank of Maine branch on Maine Street Wednesday afternoon.
According to a press release issued by Brunswick Police Commander Mark Waltz, Brunswick Police Department received a 911 call at 2:06 p.m., reporting that a robbery had just occurred at the Bank of Maine branch at 137 Maine St. A single male allegedly brandished a gun and demanded money. The suspect then escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20’s, weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He is said to have been wearing a “Safari-type” hat, a tan neck warmer or scarf and a tan jacket, white-washed jeans and white sneakers.
Waltz said Thursday that the hat appears to be a dark khaki pith helmet. New information indicates the suspect may have fled the scene in a car, which appears to be a Saab.
No one was hurt during the incident. The Brunswick Police Department and the FBI continue to investigate the robbery.
