The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a New Hampshire man in Topsham Friday night who allegedly delivered $12,000 worth of cocaine and MDMA to an undercover agent. 

The MDEA announced Monday that Ryan Thornton, 24, of Dover, N.H., was charged with the Class B crimes of unlawful trafficking in cocaine and unlawful trafficking in MDMA. Class B crimes are punishable by up to ten years incarceration and a $20,000 fine.

For the past month the MDEA Mid-Coast District Task Force and the Belfast Police Department has investigated the illegal distribution of cocaine in the Greater Belfast area. Friday at approximately 6:30 p.m., Thornton was arrested when he arrived at the Topsham Fair Mall to deliver 4 ounces of cocaine to an undercover agent. Thornton was arrested without incident and transported to Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. Bail was set at $1,500 cash. 

Agents seized 114 grams (4 ounces) of cocaine and 7 grams of MDMA, more commonly known as “Ecstasy” or “Molly.” The approximate street value of the seized drugs is $12,000.

Assisting in this investigation and Thornton’s arrest were Belfast, Bath and Topsham police departments, the Maine State Police and Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office.
